"Polymarket soccer betting explained: match result, totals and BTTS"

Soccer on Polymarket looks odd if you're used to a sportsbook. Instead of one 1X2 line, a match has several separate markets, each with Yes and No buttons. Here's how to read them.

Match result: three markets, not one line

A sportsbook shows the result as one line with three prices. Polymarket splits it into three separate questions:

  • "Will Team A win?" — Yes / No
  • "Will it be a draw?" — Yes / No
  • "Will Team B win?" — Yes / No

Buying Yes on the first market is a normal moneyline bet on Team A. Buying No on the same market is "Team A won't win" — draw or Team B — which is double chance (X2). On a sportsbook that's a separate market.

The three Yes prices add up to roughly 100 cents. Example: Team A 48¢, draw 27¢, Team B 26¢. In decimal odds that's 2.08 / 3.70 / 3.85.

Totals

Over/Under 2.5 goals and other lines work like any sportsbook total: two sides, each with its own price. Over 2.5 at 55¢ is about 1.82 in decimal odds, or −122 American.

Both teams to score

BTTS is another Yes/No market. It's easy to compare: if a sportsbook has BTTS Yes at 1.90 and Polymarket has it at 49¢ (2.04), Polymarket is paying more.

Which leagues

Most of the money is on the top leagues: Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and the Champions League. Smaller leagues are listed too, but volume is thin — one big order can move the price a lot.

What to check before you bet

  • Market volume. More money means a sharper price and less slippage.
  • Where the big money goes. Experienced wallets backing a side is worth a look, not a guarantee — even good bettors have losing runs.
  • Compare with a sportsbook. Convert the price (odds = 1 / price) and check it against the book.
